After the smashing debut of Gotta Get O’Raggednied, Clover’s Revenge released their latest CD, Truants and Absolution, on St. Patrick’s Day. The CD contains more of their signature Irish Speed Folk sound along with two originals, the hit single “The Merry Misadventures of Sister Mary Margaret” and their newest track,” The Maid Behind The Bar”, both composed by John Barron. It also shows off the writing talents of Dr. Zachary Johnson with a short jig called the “The Ahdmor Jig” that intros the well-loved pub song “Tell Me Ma”.
The CD also features the ballad, The Lakes of Ponchartrain, an old American folk ballad reinterpreted into a musical tour-de-force by the band. Some of the other tracks are the jigs “Old Hag You Have Killed Me/Dinny Delaney”. The band also pays homage to some of their favorite artists like The Young Dubliners with a rendition “Leaving of Liverpool” and The Blaggards with “Big Strong Man”.
The band will be promoting the CD with a Northeast/Midwest tour in June and a tour of London/Scotland in August. The CD will be available on iTunes and Amazon.
