How would you like to go on a lovely whiskey, music and bus tour of Counties Down, Antrim, Donnegal, Sligo and Dublin? As for me, I’m ready to return to the Irish Island, and to see some legendary sights. I’m ready to visit the cold Northern coasts. Being a Florida person, I’m really only ready to visit in the summertime, which is when you go if you want to see it in the sunshine. After landing in Dublin, we first visit Belfast. It is the largest city in Northern Ireland. It’s a maritime city with a great castle (Belfast Castle) and a famous jail (Crumlin Road Gaol). We’ll have a day to do whatever we want in Belfast, so you can check them out if you like.

Giant’s Causeway

If you’re like me, your grandmother told you about the Giant’s Causeway. She told me about this time she visited in the 1950s. Great decade. Anyway: the Giant’s Causeway is an incredible geological formation of basalt columns on the coast of Northern Ireland. The Giant’s Causeway is actually located in a little old town called Bushmills, UK. Yes, Bushmills.  On a clear day, if you walk a good way along the cliffside, there is a point at which you can see Scotland. We have learned that one must never count on a clear day in that part of the world. You can’t always count on Irish weather, but you can always count on Irish whiskey.

Titanic Belfast

I liked libraries when I was a kid. It was in a library in upstate New York that I was lucky enough to meet a survivor of the Titanic disaster. She was really nice, and a little surprised that I wanted to talk to her and listen to her. While she was very old, I was very young. She was a survivor, and her story was incredible. She survived the cold night and the terrible violence of that great ship sinking. Who hasn’t imagined themselves in those moments? We will be visiting Titanic Belfast, which is the largest Titanic exhibit in the world.

Slieve League

Slieve League and the Rusty Mackerel

We’ve got good experience at Slieve League. Those cliffs are towering and dramatic in their scope and jaggedness. Be advised: you’ll need to make sure to wear a hat that is firmly secured to your head. It’s really windy, rugged and raw. At the base of the cliffs is a lovely little pub called the Rusty Mackerel, where we’ll hopefully find some good craic.

My stories are mine, and I tell them pretty well. Just wait until you meet our travelers. Please consider joining the band and two dozen travelers for ten days of Irish hospitality, great fun, epic whiskey, all sorts of music, delicious food, and four star hotels. You’ll return home with new stories about new friends and adventures, and you’ll be glad you did.
