Our latest single, “The Merry Misadventures of Sister Mary Margaret”, is a true story. Sr. Mary Margaret was a nun recently apprehended for stealing from an elementary school to feed her gambling habit. Along with her partner, she took over $500,000 during her years-long crime spree. With a dash of Morrison’s jig thrown in, this epic tale is the perfect Irish pub song. It is the first single from the band’s upcoming CD, Truants and Absolution, to be released in early 2020. You can read about here in the article from IrishCentral that was the source of our inspiration.
Lyrics:
The Merry Misadventures of Sister Mary Margaret
Kids, turn in your homework and hang up all your coats.
No messy writing, and finish all your notes
Sister Mary Margaret needs attention
For today’s most important and holiest of lessons
Don’t forget the tiny orphaned slot machines,
One-armed little pagans from Chinese factories,
Roulette wheels and snake-eyed dice, and pray the rosary
While we make a small donation to the orphaned slot machines
So Mary and her partner, Sister Lady Luck
Would gamble school donations, or whatever they could pluck
Box tops and tuition, and all the lunch fees, too
If you didn’t watch your wallet, they’d take it right from you
The losses from their gambling were mounting
Half a million dollars, and they’re still counting
Don’t forget the tiny orphaned slot machines,
One-armed little pagans from Chinese factories,
Roulette wheels and snake-eyed dice, and pray the rosary
While we make a small donation to the orphaned slot machines
Hail Mary, full of grace, please give me some more luck
Another win, just one more score, it only takes a buck
Triple seven jackpot, I know it’s getting near
I’ll take up all my winnings and fly away from here
Holy Mary, Don’t look now, they’ve figured out your scheme
Bouncing checks and fake accounts I hope that you come clean
Triple seven jackpot, you’re never going to nab it.
It may be fun as a gambling nun
But don’t get in the habit
Quitting slots might make you feel depression
I just wish that I could spy on your confession
Don’t forget the tiny orphaned slot machines,
One-armed little pagans from Chinese factories,
Roulette wheels and snake-eyed dice, and pray the rosary
While we make a small donation to the orphaned slot machines
