Looking Back, Looking Forward

For each of us, the people we have met and come to love are the single most important aspect of our lives. Without our families and friends, we really don’t have much. As a band, the same thing is true of us and our fans. We can’t do this without you, and we wouldn’t want to. You guys are the ingredients that make each of our shows unique. Truly, without you, we really wouldn’t have much.

To our newest friends and fans: Welcome!

We had a great time playing and meeting people at the Dunedin Celtic Music and Craft Beer Festival. It was amazing to look out into the crowd, and see so many friends, proudly wearing their black Clover & Crossbones tee shirts. We were able to give away several dozen black Clover’s Revenge koozies, and have made dozens of new friends. Thanks for letting us have your email address! We’ll do our best to keep it light and breezy!

Here’s a look back at some of the year’s highlights, with love and gratitude in our hearts:

November – As we mentioned above, we got a chance to play at the Dunedin Celtic Music and Craft Beer Festival, with Syr & The Mud Men, two incredible Celtic Rock acts. Syr is a kick-ass rock band that hails from South Carolina. They’re great friends with the Tan and Sober Gentlemen, so there’s that. The Mud Men is a six-piece rock band from Canada that features two ridiculously talented pipers, Rob and Sandy, who are as real as it gets.

October – How about Celtoberfest, where we shared the Saturday stage with Seven Nations, the Black Velvet Band and MacTier. Belly competitions, steinhoists, lederhosen & bagpipes.

September – The band went to Ireland with 24 intrepid travelers. We were led by our great friend (and incredible tour guide) Lee Sugrue, in going the way of saints and scholars, and we had a lovely time. The Bleeding Horse, Sean’s Bar, the Brazen Head, the Porterhouse, Matt Malloy’s and two dozen other pubs and hideaways. Brian and Lynn were among our intrepid travelers.

August – Lakeland’s Molly McHugh’s was just great craic. Such lovely people, and an awesome staff.

July – Celtic Summer Jam was put together out at the Freckled Fin. We shared the stage with the Muckers, which is one of Georgia’s best Irish Punk Rock bands, and MacTier, who you guys either know, or should go see.

April – The Dunedin Highland Games was pure bedlam. Video evidence confirms an exceptionally happy crowd amidst some of the nastiest, rainiest conditions you might imagine.

March – St. Augustine, North Myrtle Beach and the craziness surrounding St Paddy’s Day is always memorable. As always, we’d like to thank the Celtic Ray and 3 Keys Brewing Company for their awesomeness. Here’s a drone shot (of the band, napping) taken by some cool fans in Orlando.

February – we actually started recording the new album back in February. Yep. We have learned this lesson about ourselves: we might PLAY fast, but we RECORD slowly.

Remembering three of the best

With love and gratitude in our hearts, we remember our dear friends Brian Fitzpatrick, Jim Sensbach and Jay Storey, who each passed away recently. With luck, we will see them soon.

How else can we express our gratitude but to keep performing and creating new music? We hope you’ll love our upcoming CD. We’ll have a new single and video out here soon, and the release is scheduled for early March 2024.

Looking forward to seeing everyone out at the pub.

  1. Thank you so much for remembering Brian. Little did I know our trip to Ireland would be the High Adventure of our 47 years together. It was a pilgrimage of sorts for us, renewing and healing our minds, hearts and souls. Although the memories are so hard to bear right now, I will always, always remember the journey of our lifetime with you and our fellow rovers. God bless you three. Brian admired your talent, but mostly your genuine love of music and sharing that love with such joy.
